OFFICIAL RESPONSE TO THE PUBLIC ALLEGATIONS AGAINST ST. PETER’S SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL, NAALYA (SPENA)

The Board of Governors, Management and Administration of St. Peter’s Senior Secondary School, Naalya (SPENA) have taken note of the public allegations and concerns circulated regarding the institution through an open letter and purported public-interest whistleblower petition.

We wish to state, clearly and responsibly, that SPENA takes every allegation concerning the welfare, safety, dignity, education and wellbeing of its students and staff seriously. We do not believe that the truth about an educational institution should be determined through social media narratives, speculation, selective information or unverified public accusations.

At the same time, we reaffirm that no institution should be condemned without a fair, transparent and evidence-based opportunity to respond.

OUR POSITION

The school firmly rejects any attempt to portray unverified allegations as established facts. SPENA is an institution that has been built through the collective efforts of parents, teachers, students, administrators, the Board of Governors and other stakeholders, with the central objective of providing quality education in a safe, structured and progressive environment.

We remain confident in the integrity of our administration and the systems established to support the academic, social and personal development of our learners.

Where genuine concerns exist, we believe they must be investigated through the appropriate channels and against verifiable evidence. Where weaknesses are identified, the school is equally committed to addressing them responsibly and in accordance with the law and established education standards.

OPEN INVITATION FOR AN INDEPENDENT SITE INSPECTION

In the interest of transparency and accountability, St. Peter’s Senior Secondary School, Naalya hereby invites parents, guardians and all concerned competent authorities to participate in an open Site Inspection and Stakeholders’ Engagement Day at the school on 1st September 2026.

The inspection will be conducted in the presence of the School Administration and relevant representatives of the institution.

We particularly invite:
Parents and guardians of current and former students who may have concerns requiring clarification;
The Ministry of Education and Sports and its relevant inspection departments;
The Directorate of Education Standards and other competent education regulatory bodies;
Local government and relevant district education authorities;
Law enforcement and child protection authorities, where their mandate may be relevant;
The School Board of Governors and other legally recognised governance structures;
Relevant professional and statutory authorities;
Other concerned stakeholders acting within the law and in the genuine interest of students and education.

PURPOSE OF THE INSPECTION

The purpose of this open inspection is to allow all concerned parties to ascertain the truth through direct observation, examination of relevant facts and engagement with the responsible school authorities.

The exercise will provide an opportunity to:

1. Inspect the school environment and relevant facilities;
2. Review matters raised within the jurisdiction of the visiting authorities;
3. Seek factual clarification from the School Administration;
4. Examine relevant records and procedures where legally and appropriately required;
5. Hear concerns through an orderly and respectful process;
6. Establish, on the basis of evidence, which allegations are substantiated, which require further investigation and which may be inaccurate or misleading.

We believe this approach is far more responsible than conducting a trial of the institution in the court of public opinion.

OUR APPEAL TO THE PUBLIC

We respectfully appeal to members of the public, parents, former students, staff and all stakeholders to avoid making definitive conclusions before the relevant facts have been independently established.

We also call upon anyone who possesses credible evidence of wrongdoing to present it to the appropriate competent authorities. The school will cooperate with every lawful and properly constituted investigation.

Equally, we appeal for fairness toward the institution, its students, its teachers and its wider community. The reputation of a school affects thousands of people, and serious allegations must therefore be handled with responsibility, evidence and due process.

SPENA has nothing to gain from concealing the truth. Our position is straightforward:

Let the facts be inspected. Let the evidence be examined. Let the competent authorities make their findings.

If the inspection identifies areas requiring improvement, we shall take them seriously and act appropriately. If allegations are found to be false, exaggerated, misleading or unsupported by evidence, we equally expect the institution and the people whose reputations have been unfairly affected to receive the fairness and protection they deserve.
